On the morning of January 16, the roll-off ceremony for the world’s first closed-circuit energy recovery system for 156m piling equipment and the world’s largest opening-closing hydraulic cylinder was successfully held at the headquarters of Hengli Hydraulics in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province.
The core products unveiled this time not only demonstrate Hengli Hydraulics’ profound strength in high-end large-scale equipment manufacturing and relentless pursuit of technological innovation, but also provide solid support for the world’s tallest 156m piling equipment to empower the national Belt and Road Initiative and the "3060" carbon neutrality goal.

1.Gather for the Grand Ceremony & Witness the Glory

Accompanied by Qiu Yongning, President of Hengli Hydraulics, Xu Jin, Senior Vice President, and Jin Chen, Vice President, guests from all over the world visited the company’s core production base and attended the project launch ceremony.
In his opening speech, President Qiu Yongning extended a warm welcome and sincere gratitude to all attending guests. His speech showcased the power of technological innovation and highlighted the determination and ambition of Chinese enterprises to embrace the future, break through barriers and scale new heights.
Subsequently, Vice President Jin Chen introduced the project overview and elaborated on key products including the closed-circuit energy recovery system and the ultra-large and ultra-long opening-closing hydraulic cylinder.
The local government paid close attention to and supported this project, extending congratulations on site and stating that it will continue to care for and support Hengli Hydraulics to escort the company’s development.
Leaders from China Railway Construction, China Railway Construction Bridge Engineering Bureau and Jiangsu Branch of China Classification Society highly affirmed the professionalism and efficient collaboration of the project team. They all stated that the successful launch of hydraulic cylinders applied with the closed-circuit energy recovery system strongly proves China’s technological leadership and innovation capability in high-end marine engineering equipment manufacturing, marking a milestone significance.02Successful Roll-Off & Glorious Launch.

2.Successful Roll-Off & Glorious Launch

Following the speeches by leaders, 19 leaders took the stage to jointly launch the new product roll-off ceremony under the spotlight. As three curtain panels opened to all sides, a steel giant with a single cylinder weight of 399 tons stood majestically: the world’s largest opening-closing hydraulic cylinder adopting a closed-circuit energy recovery system was officially announced to roll off the line at this moment.
This is not only an engineering feat jointly created by Hengli Hydraulics and China Railway Construction Bridge Engineering Bureau based on joint technological research and value co-creation, but also a vivid witness for both sides to map out the future and embrace a grand blueprint. It allowed all attendees to deeply feel the majestic power and firm determination of China’s manufacturing industry to upgrade to high-end and break through to the world’s forefront.

3.Technological Breakthrough & Scaling New Heights

Facing the thousand-ton pile frame system of the piling equipment innovatively equipped with a "DP + Mooring" dual-positioning system, Hengli Hydraulics’ core challenge was: how to achieve stable lifting and lowering of the pile frame system through matching force and speed, while efficiently recovering the huge potential energy generated by its lowering or forward tilting, so as to meet the dual demands of high operational stability and green low-carbon development.
Based on customer needs, Hengli Hydraulics joined hands with research teams from several well-known universities to innovatively launch a pump-controlled closed-circuit energy recovery system, realizing efficient recycling of energy. Its core principle is: when lifting the pile frame, the motor drives the closed-circuit pump to generate high-pressure oil, pushing the hydraulic cylinder to lift and convert electric energy into potential energy of the pile frame; when lowering or tilting the pile frame forward, the gravity of the pile frame drives the oil in the hydraulic cylinder to rotate the closed-circuit pump, driving the motor to generate electricity and feed potential energy back into electric energy.
The application of the pump-controlled closed-circuit energy recovery system reduces the fuel tank volume by 13% and the floor area by 24%, with an energy recovery rate of up to 40%. This not only greatly reduces hydraulic shock, but also achieves significant energy saving and carbon reduction.
In overcoming the bottleneck of ultra-slender piston rod processing, Hengli Hydraulics realized the completion of turning, grinding, cladding and polishing in a single station, reducing multiple clamping errors. Through professional support technology, the total straightness error of the piston rod is controlled within 0.2mm, successfully breaking through the industrial application problem of high-speed cladding on ultra-large components.
In addition, we provide the V32G280 main pump as the core power source for piling operations, which features ultra-strong pressure resistance and stability for 1,000 hours under 42MPa. It can provide continuous and stable hydraulic power for the penetration of 700-ton super-heavy pile foundations into the seabed, ensuring the precise implementation of key processes such as pipe lifting alignment and deep-sea pile lowering.
After delivery, this set of hydraulic cylinders will officially enter the installation and full-system commissioning stage of the piling equipment, and is expected to be applied to the construction of the Salvador Cross-Sea Bridge in Brazil, the world’s deepest water pile foundation project, in June this year. As the largest cross-sea cable-stayed bridge in Latin America, this bridge is a landmark project under the Belt and Road Initiative. The application of this equipment will strongly promote the in-depth participation of Chinese technologies and equipment in major global projects.
Taking this as a new starting point, Hengli Hydraulics will continue to deepen the research of core technologies, fully embrace and promote the vigorous development of new quality productive forces, deeply empower global partners, and jointly drive the equipment manufacturing industry to a higher level for mutual development and prosperity.
